There is a lake on top of Green Mountain called Sky Lake. There's a nice walking trail and even a covered bridge. John and I spent some time there to see the changing leaves.
There is a pond in our backyard and I am regularly drawn to it. I have a photo series of the pond during various seasons and times of day. This painting was referencing one of my favorite photos of the pond. Photograph taken in April 2017, painted in November 2017.
We used to live in College Station, Texas and this park was very close to our apartment. I would drive by it every day on the way to work. The trees in Texas don't grow very tall and as a result the sky looks enormous. I took this picture in 2012, this painting was done in November of 2017.
My favorite photograph that I took while on vacation in Massachusetts was at the Old North Bridge. Revisited in gouache.

I have been intermittently been painting birds for years, they are a subject I never tire of. Recently I've painted some finches, a titmouse, and a crow.
These pieces were monochrome studies; an effort to practice shading and value.
